Wish I’d Thought of That: Vikki Berardi

At the Wesley Hospital, nurse Vikki Berardi has demonstrated what it means to be truly person-centred in Palliative Care. She ensures peoples’ final days are as comfortable as possible with above-and-beyond personalised care. Understanding the challenges that palliative patients experience in their final days in a hospital, Vikki contacted the Miracle Made Foundation to source donated Palliative Care boxes. The boxes include a warm soft touch blanket, a lip balm, a soft pillow and a Turkish Delight. Vicki went out of her way in her own time to pick up these boxes from the Gold Coast, and they have made such a meaningful difference to people in their last few days. This is just once example of how Vikki demonstrates her empathy and compassion for patients in Palliative Care.
