We arrived in Helensburgh by train from Glasgow Queen Station late morning and our first stop was the launderette! From the launderette we walked up to the Moorlands Bed & Breakfast to drop off our bags. The property is stunning! The home was built in the 1870s and was converted to the B&B approximately 10 years ago. Our hosts, Lesley and Simon were wonderful and even made us coffee and toast while we did introductions. We walked back down to the River Clyde and walked the pier before heading out west along the coast. We elected to not walk all the way to the Naval Base as it was about 6 miles each way…. After picking up our laundry we went back to the Moorlands to freshen up and headed back to the town for supper. We made an early night of it as we wanted to be fresh for the first day of our walk. A wonderful home cooked breakfast awaited us in the morning and after saying our Good Byes we began our walk We encountered a little bit of an unexpected issue about 5km into the walk when we crossed paths with some folks who told us about the diversion issue; they suggested we ‘may’ we able to get through the obstacle. We tried, not a chance we were risking injury! The diversion route was not very clear me us but we had no choice. It added about 4km to the day’s walk but it was actually quite nice and gave us a number of bonus views. After getting back onto the main route we descended towards Loch Lomond and Balloch. Along the way, we stopped to log a GeoCache (GC5FDK2 Two Wooden Friends) When we got to Balloch we stopped at The Dog House Pub for a couple pints and Fish & Chips!! Tomorrow we leave Bullock for Strathblane; a 30+ Km walk!!! This video was shot and produced on an iPhone 14Pro using the iMovie app.
