Presented by her son, collaborator, educator, and fellow artist Neal Ambrose-Smith, this talk was organized in conjunction with a public program celebrating the remarkable career and legacy of artist Jaune Quick-to-See Smith (1940–2025). An enrolled citizen of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribes, Smith worked in painting, printmaking, collage, drawing, mixed media, and sculpture to explore issues confronting contemporary Native American communities, including histories of oppression and environmental degradation. The Museum’s recent acquisition of Smith’s "Jocko: Gray Whale" and associated programming is made possible with support from Jimmy Ellis '82, Martha Henry '82, and Leslie Rainer '82 in honor Yvonne Swann Simon ’82. Recorded October 9, 2025 at Bowdoin College.
