Full build video showcasing the Italeri 1/72 F/A-18 Hornet scale model kit. I have opted to build the F/A-18C US Marine Corps variant. The kit cost me £18. There were a few fit issues and a lot of putty and sanding was required. Because of the poor kit quality and difficulties of added detail at this scale I chose not to add the smaller details such as pitot tubes and antennas. Despite these issues and shortcuts, overall I was happy with the finished product. I did however make a few rookie errors which ruined the final look. First, not having the correct paints and unable to find a suitable conversion chart I followed advice I found in an online forum. This turned out to be bad advice and the model came out looking too dark. Second, I initially used a satin cote, which did not look good. I was able to partially correct this by overlaying a layer of matt cote however the issue came back in the next steps. I was using black oil paint to apply the final layer of weathering. I applied far too much paint, and then applied for too much thinning agent which started to break down the cote and show the satin shine again. A good model once again ruined in the final stages.
