The Plasmart PlasmaCar is one of the coolest toys we have brought home for our boys. This year, they each received one for Easter and they absolutely love them. About 4 hours later, we regretted it. They were having so much fun but the plasma car wheels were marking up our hardwood floors. This is when we decided that we needed a plasma car wheel replacement. Actually, we needed a plasma car wheel upgrade. After hours of research and trying to decide what wheel to choose, this is what our research confirmed. If you don’t care about the research and just want the PlasmaCar or wheels for this cool toy. Here are some amazon links for you. Find these PlasmaCars and the Polyurethane Wheels here: https://amzn.to/42kPmXL (affiliate link, we may earn from qualifying purchases) Tools required for this upgrade Ratchet with 10mm socket (Front wheels) Small pick, 90 degree pick works best (to remove the bearings if you choose to replace them) Rubber hammer The Plasmart Plasma Car wheels are 90mm in diameter. Unfortunately you can’t use inline roller blade wheels or scooter wheels to replace plasma car wheels. Well they will actually work for the front wheels, but the back wheel span is smaller than the front and the normal 24mm thick wheel just won’t fit. You could probably bring it to a machine shop and have them make it work but this would probably be a bit pricey, unless you know someone to hook you up. So after hours and hours of research we found a set on Amazon that looked like a good fit. The reason it took us a while to make a choice was that there were so many options for wiggle car wheels to choose from on Amazon, but many had lots of negative reviews. The wheels we decided to go with are specifically designed for the Plasmart Plasmacar. The front wheels are 24mm thick and the back wheels are recessed 2mm on each side making them 20mm overall thickness. If you are looking to upgrade your plasma car wheels these PlasmaCar polyurethane replacement wheels are a great option. How to change PlasmaCar wheels and bearings Place the PlasmaCar / swivel car on a table to make it easier to work on. Using the ratchet and 10mm socket remove the front wheels. Pull the back wheels out by hand. If they are too difficult to pull out you can use a screwdriver or small pry bar. Using your 90 degree pick, gently pull out the bearings from the original wheels. Do not use impact to remove the bearings as this could damage them and you will be installing them in the new wheels. Remove the bearings from the replacement wheels but keep them for future use in case a bearing fails. Press the original bearings into the replacement wheels. Again, do not use impact to install the bearing. This could damage them or cause them to fail prematurely. They should press in by hand. If not, use the technique we provided using a bolt, two washers and a nut. Install the front wheels on the fixed axle and tighten snug. Install the axles into the back replacement plasmacar wheels and press them into the slots. If they don’t press in by hand, line up the slots and tap them in with the rubber hammer. Make sure all wheels are spinning freely before use. These PlasmaCar polyurethane wheels are perfect. They are easy to install, they are quiet and they are safe on indoor floors.
