Mikey And His Uke Present: Video 97 of Quarantunes. I have a photo that was taken when I was 14 years old, attending my very first punk show at the Windsor Park Hotel back in Sault Ste Marie. In the picture, I'm watching one of my favourite local punk groups from that time called the Spigots. The Kite Eating Maples played next, and the show was headlined by my absolute favourite local band, Room 206 (I later played in various bands with all the members of Room 206, members of the Kite Eating Maples, and members of the Spigots). I had never seen anything like this before. You can see in my face the fear, confusion, exhilaration, and that I'm in absolute awe of what I was witnessing. I couldn't believe that kids just a little bit older then me were doing something this incredible, and writing songs like this. I started playing drums immediately after, and formed a band as quick as I could. I haven't stopped playing music since, and I never will. The picture was taken by a local SSM photographer named Paolo Colasacco and published in a 'History of Sault Ste Marie punk rock' book titled 'Going Underground'. I'm very thankful for pictures like these. They help me remember exactly how I got to where I am now, and the experiences that shaped the person I am today. And now here we are, 27 years later, and I've got 2 members of The Spigots joining me on one of their signature songs, and possibly the first punk rock cover song I ever heard, ‘With Or Without You' - Spigots style with my good friends Trev on lead vocals, and Frank on bass.
