The Asia-Pacific Region - one of the world’s most diverse and dynamic regions - remains the most underrepresented region at the International Criminal Court. This Region presents a complex and evolving landscape for international criminal justice, characterized by historical conflicts, diverse legal traditions, geopolitical tensions, and varied engagement with global justice mechanisms. This webinar will discuss various perspectives on international criminal justice in the Region with a focus on contemporary practices and approaches, including Asian international criminal institutions and general principles of international law, the 2024 amendments to the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act of Bangladesh, domestic implementation of the Rome Statute in Pacific countries, and China and the International Criminal Court.
