#situspurbakala #selogending #lumajang The earliest settlement inhabited by prehistoric humans in Lumajang was Kandangan Village, Senduro District, Lumajang Regency. This village is located 36 km from the city of Lumajang to the west and takes approximately 40 minutes from the city of Lumajang. The people here used to believe that Mount Semeru was a very powerful spiritual force and the abode of ancestral spirits who would always protect their successors and grandchildren in the world. To reach the main site we have to pass some stairs made of stone. At the very top of the stairs are some stones from prehistoric traditions. There are 5 stones that are sacred by the surrounding community, the 5 stones are named Selo Gending, Tejo Kusumo, Mbah Punchun, Linggasiva and Wadung Prabu. Wadung Prabu itself is a rock that occupies the top position on the steps. The Selo Gending site is about 500 thousand years old, older than the "Biting" Site (the Lamajang Kingdom with its king Arya Wiraraja), but the Selogending site is not a kingdom because there is no genealogy but a ceremonial place for prehistoric saints. Unfortunately, this prehistoric evidence cannot be traced properly because the ancient writings found on the Wadung Prabu stone have rotted with age so they cannot be read. Now the Selo Gending site is one of the ancient temples in Indonesia. Desa ini terletak 36 km dari kota Lumajang ke arah barat dan memakan waktu kurang lebih 40 menit dari kota Lumajang. Orang-orang di sini dulu percaya bahwa Gunung Semeru adalah kekuatan spiritual yang sangat kuat dan tempat tinggal roh leluhur yang akan selalu melindungi penerus dan cucu mereka di dunia. Untuk mencapai situs utama kita harus melewati beberapa anak tangga yang terbuat dari batu. Di bagian paling atas tangga adalah beberapa batu dari tradisi prasejarah. Ada 5 batu yang dikeramatkan oleh masyarakat sekitar, 5 batu tersebut diberi nama Selo Gending, Tejo Kusumo, Mbah Punchun, Linggasiva dan Wadung Prabu. Wadung Prabu sendiri merupakan batu karang yang menempati posisi teratas di tangga. Situs Selo Gending berusia sekitar 500 ribu tahun, lebih tua dari Situs "Biting" (Kerajaan Lamajang dengan rajanya Arya Wiraraja), tetapi situs Selogending bukanlah kerajaan karena tidak ada silsilah melainkan tempat upacara para orang suci jaman prasejarah. Sayangnya, bukti prasejarah ini tidak dapat dilacak dengan baik karena tulisan kuno yang ditemukan di batu Wadung Prabu sudah lapuk dimakan usia sehingga tidak bisa dibaca. Kini situs Selo Gending menjadi salah satu Pura Purba di Indonesia.
