ℹ️ About the TAS Emulator used : BizHawk 2.9.1 (https://github.com/TASEmulators/BizHawk) Aims for reaching the Developer's Office (by finding 8 pieces of the Psykey) while playing in hard difficulty The timer ends when "Welcome to Psygnosis France !!!" is displayed, the rest of the video is just a tour of the office 🏗️ Setup Hard difficulty - Less collectibles - Tougher Boss (at least the one in level 4) - 40 bottles of gas required instead of 20 (easy) / 30 (normal) Cutscenes between levels skipped Character : Ike Hawkins 🎥 Video The video is shorter than the TAS time because I've reduced 95 in-level loading screens of ~ 5 seconds each to 1 second with ffmpeg. This will make the video more convenient to watch. Experience is gained by killing ennemies, smashing boxes, ... When you distribute your experience into armor, weapon or spell, the game allows you to split your experience into each. But when you have 1 unit of experience, the game won't increase by a third but by one unit. Thus, the glitch is to obtain just 1 unit of experience, split, remove one, split, remove one, split, ... to finish by increasing each skill to their maximum. 📝 Notes Level 0 At 03:13, by chance, I've found this tiny shortcut where it's not required to fall to the first floor to then climb up to the Psykey part n°1. Death Warp After obtaining the first part of the Psykey, I death warp to the beginning of the level (I do not walk on any checkpoint for that). Before that, I've managed to reduce my life (and consumed my only energy item) by making a very high jump (at 02:36) in order to be annihilated by the grenade afterward. Level 1 At 06:34, there's a locked gate to access the acid bath where the boss is nearby, but it's possible to jump above the gate as there's no collision detection (seen on D&M runs). Level 2 At 15:36, this shortcut allows to avoid jumping from crane to crane (seen on D&M runs). At 17:37, you can send a second rocket without climbing again the platforms (seen on D&M runs). Level 3 At 19:21, shortcut from aerial platforms to the bridge (seen on all runs). At 24:34, Ike can make a high jump just after a crouched fire (seen on Mekire's run). Done on level 6 too. Level 4 At 34:43, prison skip done by jumping on the ceiling instead of destroying it (seen on D&M runs). Strange pack bug During this level, you are put in jail and all your stuff is packed into a bag (named strange pack) that you will retrieve later. I encountered a bug that made me redo this level 4 times because I couldn't explain why I had such issues when opening the bag (at 35:12). One time, I wasn't able to use the fire weapon afterward. Second time, I wasn't able to use the gray weapon afterward. Third time, the game will softlock if I open my inventory and try to reach the sixth object. So, after some different attempts, I came with a (not optimal but) working / a bit fantasist solution : take the grey ammo at 29:57 do not put any green ammo into the green weapon before opening the bag do not take the fire spell at 34:34 I have noted to make a real investigation to understand why it happens and, especially, to know if I can take advantage of this bug. Level 5 Meat skip Mekire has found a shortcut in level 7 (at 59:40) where a spider is used as a proxy to jump higher which allows to grab a higher edge. I applied the same idea but on level 5 too at 39:18 (meat skip) and 39:52 (just a tiny shortcut). Cutscene skip During the level 1, at 04:38, we can hear that Ike does a roll to be a bit further away after the cutscene (which immobilize Ike). I've applied this same idea at 44:47, but I've additionally added a mine to explode near me as it will throw me to the trigger of the loading zone, skipping the cutscene. 💪 Possible improvements In DanE's run, 2 detours are made to get Earth spells (for Blast spell), is it worth it ? Level 4 : As you lose all ammo loaded in your weapons when put in jail, it will be wiser to load only the right amount of ammo needed to avoid wasting them. In the same idea as above, at 59:41, I dropped all the extra items I have in my inventory which results in too much stuff that I could skip to take. ♯ Hashtags #tas #toolassistedspeedrun #odt 🍿 Enjoy 🍿
