Welcome to Vannes, one of the most enchanting cities in Brittany! 🏰✨ In this walking tour, we explore a city that feels like a movie set. While the Vannes Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Pierre) was unfortunately under construction during our visit, its towering Gothic exterior still makes a massive impact on the skyline! Instead, we spent our time wandering through the iconic colorful timber-framed houses of Place Henri-IV and taking a breathtaking walk along the Remparts de Vannes (City Walls). The highlight? The impeccably manicured French gardens that sit right in the old moat—easily one of the most photogenic spots in all of France. From the bustling Port to the hidden "Vannes and his Wife" carving, come see why this Breton gem is a must-visit. 🥞🇫🇷 ℹ️ Turn on CC to enjoy a full experience with information on attractions, historical facts and more. Enjoy!🤗 In this walking tour, you'll see: 0:00 - In This Video 0:47 - Port 3:23 - Porte Saint-Vincent (Saint-Vincent Gate) 5:39 - Château de l'Hermine (Hermine Castle) & Jardin Des Ramparts (Ramparts Garden) The Château and this section of the garden are not accessible to the public, as the property is a private residence. 9:39 - Bridge to the Ramparts Garden 11:22 - The Lavoirs (Washhouses) - I was genuinely blown away by these lavoirs; the scale and restoration quality are incredible. It's also a perfect cool-off spot in summer, making it a great place to just unwind. 12:46 - Jardin des Remparts (Ramparts Garden) 17:18 - The Porte Poterne (Postern Gate) - This simple gate allows you to access the main streets of the walled town. 20:48 - Kouign-amann Shop - You can’t leave Vannes or any Brittany village\city without trying a Kouign-amann. I found the best one right here at La Huche à Pain. 20:57 Look at that caramelization!😋 23:23 - Meet Vannes and his wife! This fun, old-school couple is the most famous face in the city. I love their grumpy-but-jovial vibe!😉 25:16 - A trip to Brittany isn't complete without the local cider. It's dry, crisp, and a must try! 27:15 - Museum Free Exhibition - 28:00 - Okay, this was unbelievable! There's an invisible sculpture here by the museum—you can only see it through your phone or camera! It’s Calle Augmented Reality ,The future of art is here, and it’s amazing! 33:22 - Such a shame! We made it to the end of the tunnel, but the cathedral interior was heavily closed off—about 90% was construction zone, so we turned back.🥺 38:08 - This beautiful Neoclassical/Art Nouveau landmark commands attention in the medieval town, yet blends in perfectly. 42:26 - Place Maurice Marchais (Maurice Marchais Square) 42:34 -The magnificent Hôtel de Ville(Town Hall), a scaled-down Parisian design, and the towering statue of Arthur III anchor the square—a perfect testament to Brittany’s historical grandeur. 47:10 - Porte Prison (Prison Gate) - In my opinion, the most impressive and beautiful of Vannes' gates is the Porte Prison (Prison Gate). It was named that way because it was actually used as a prison during the French Revolution.🏰 51:34 - Quartier Saint-Patern (Saint-Patern neighborhood) - The iconic old houses of Quartier Saint-Patern are so vibrant, but the village vibe was definitely taking a nap today!😴 52:32 - Aerial view of the Walled Town and Port. And now, let’s fly!
