A USC Dornsife professor is taking a modern approach to teaching an ancient poem by rapping the prologue to The Iliad. Prof. Brandon Bourgeois isn't just channeling his inner hip-hop artist, he's mirroring the oral transmission of ancient rhapsody. That's how The Iliad was shared for six centuries, before it was finally written down. Bourgeois believes the oral tradition that kept The Iliad alive bears similarities to modern rap.
