RETRO VIBES! MBM Fun Center Arcade @ Ocean Beach, June 2025 tour (New London CT) full 4K walkthrough

All the way out in the middle of nowhere along the southern coastline of Connecticut, there's a itty, bitty, teeny tiny boardwalk called Ocean Beach Park. There really isn't too much around; there's a small amusement park with a few kiddie rides and a classic carousel, there's a big waterslide, there's a few places to grab a bite to eat, there's a lot of sand and there's a lot of seagulls. But none of that is the reason for us making this stop. We came to check out the MBM Fun Center Arcade, which is a total throwback to the boardwalk arcades of yesteryear. There's a ton of games ranging from the 70's through the 2010's, including retro arcade game classics, DDR, racing games, shooting games, fighters, a whole bunch of pinball machines, an entire wall full of Skee-Ball, and some of the craziest redemption games I've ever seen in my life. This is such a throwback that they still use tokens and paper tickets all throughout the arcade! At the moment, they appear to only be open on the weekends, from 11 AM to 5 PM. Also, a good chunk of the games currently appear to be out of order, presumably because they're moving stuff around and rearranging everything. But, for what it's worth, the owner Lindsey was super welcoming and happy to help us out in any way she could, including trying to getting some of the classic pins up and running for us. As a family owned-and-operated location, it's understandable that there just won't always be enough hours in the day to take care of all of the issues that crop up in a day of play. But with that said, my heart stopped when I came across the classic deluxe motion cab for the original OutRun; an all-time favorite, still running with its original CRT and operating in immaculate condition, and at only a single token a play, an incredible deal! I hope to be able to get back here again in the future the next time I'm along the Connecticut shore; their collection is definitely out of this world, and hopefully by the next time I get back, even more of their machines will be up and running.
