#policeencounters Suspect Shot After Charging at Officers With a Kitchen Knife (Disclaimer: This video content is intended for educational and informational purposes only) On July 20, 2021 home activision officers responded to a call about an intoxicated male at an apartment complex in the 300 Block of West Ave 26. Upon arrival the officers questioned the mother of the suspect later identified as 52 year-old Edward Rubio and his actions, additionally asked if he was armed which his mother stated he was not. Upon entering the apartment the officers spotted Rubio seated in a couch, as the officers ordered Rubio to exit the apartment he stood up from the living room couch and moved quickly towards the officers, as the officers moved to another location in the hallway Rubio proceeded to close the door to the apartment. The officers once again ordered Rubio to exit the apartment which he eventually exited but was armed with a kitchen knife, while in the hallway Rubio moved quickly towards the officers resulting in a taser deployment and gun fire from one of the officers service weapons Rubio was struck by both the taser and the gun fire and was taken into custody. Los Angeles paramedics transported Rubio to a local hospital where he received treatment for a non life threatening gunshot wound and taser darts, he was treated and released the same day, no additional members or officers were injured during this incident. Rubio was later charged with 1 count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer.
