Runs like this tend to show a game at both its best and worst, since you have a lot less tools. Combat is fun, when you're weaving in between attacks, pressuring hard and flying from one enemy to the next, doing an OT and then backforwardX to relocate and quickly do Air BR YY, that's legit so fun. Without UTs you're more forced to play with the enemies and use BR moves smartly, manage your meter more and time Berserk. Especially when Goliaths, Lasers and Van Gelfs show up you have to plan around it since you don't have an easy solution. Without Indicators on you have to pay a lot more attention and prioritize enemies differently, i.e. take out anti-air capable enemies first and always keep eyes on shuriken throwers since those hit like a truck. I honestly recommend everyone to play it this way at least once, a lot more fun imo. But you also notice a lot of bad stuff in this type of run. Some enemies will just randomly go ape-shit offscreen, quickly recover and OHKO you without warning. Other times since the margin for error is so low, you'll delimb an enemy and go for the OT, but nothing will happen and you die. Or you want to OT, but Yakumo attacks the guy next to him, or during Berserk will desperately want to target that guy out of range instead of the guy next to him that you're pointing at. When editing the videos of the run I kept a tally for a few chapters, and out of the first 100 deaths only 19 were me making a mistake. The rest were a mixture of targeting issues, Yakumo not doing what was asked of him(especially regarding OTs) or enemies having the most insane tracking imaginable. Especially when checkpoints are so few and far between at times, having to replay 5-6 hard fights where a single mistake (yours, or the game's) restarts you again is very dull and at times made me play way more safely than I'd like. Bosses are mixed for me too. Some are really fun like DDO and Kitsune(?), but others made me wonder if the developers really looked at NG2 and said "man, Zedonius is fantastic, he should have two phases and fly around more". They just don't feel fun to fight and drag on and on. Enemies are hit and miss. I like the DDO, the Tengu and Oni are cool too though the latter have ridiculous tracking on some of their moves. The lanterns and pots feel like they're from a different series and I really hope to never see them again. LaserDDO can go away too haha. A lot of legacy enemies feel weird, Imps can randomly warp away even mid combo (seems like a glitch) while Van Gelfs feel way overtuned with hyperarmor and enough HP to tank 6 Void Ninpos to the face (insane). Overal, still a pretty fun game. Don't think I'll play it as much as NGB or even 3RE though. I can't mention NGII out of fear for my family. Curious what the DLC will bring. I do hope they'll take the time to patch some of the targetting issues and maybe improve some loading times and hitboxes, maybe add Furious Wind back in. A man can dream. Anyway that's just my 5 cents. As a bonus: I tried to replicate the instant-kill glitch against the final boss, but sadly if you do that in the storymode he just becomes immortal.
