Originally from Las Vegas, Katrina is in her fourth year at the Meadows School of the Arts at SMU, pursuing a Bachelor of Music Degree in Classical Guitar Performance and participating in the University's Honors Program. She studies with world-renowned guitarist Robert Guthrie and gives recitals at SMU each semester. In April 2011, Katrina and her partner took first place in the Brownsville Guitar Competition in the Duo Category. Katrina traveled to Blonay, Switzerland in June 2011 to participate in the Music11 Festival, where she premiered new chamber works with the Grammy Award-winning ensemble Eighth Blackbird. In July 2012 she traveled to Maccagno, Italy to premiere new chamber works in the soundSCAPE festival's eighth season. She hopes to pursue a Masters of Music degree in fall 2013 and seeks the opportunity to travel and be involved in innovative chamber music. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
