(4K, 2024) Aer Lingus Airbus A320neo (EI-NSD) de-icing, startup, and takeoff from Runway 34 at a snow-covered Cork Airport, Ireland, operating flight EI718 to London Heathrow, in late November 2024. Skip to the takeoff at timestamp 05:40. I think this is one of the most stunning videos I have ever recorded, and I certainly never imagined recording a snow takeoff in Cork! Just a day or so before Storm Bert hit, Ireland was hit with much lower than normal temperatures for this time of year, as a result of an artic air-mass. Overnight and that morning, it brought snow to Cork City. The airport, being on high ground at 512 feet above sea level, was badly impacted. The morning Aer Lingus flight to Heathrow was one such example, taking off over three-hours late, as the runway needed to be cleared while it was still snowing. Throughout the day, the snow melted in the City, but at the airport, it did not thaw-out all day being on high ground, leaving a beautiful but unusual situation where the airport was covered in snow, but the surrounding city and county on lower ground were not! By the time of this evening flight, we still needed to be de-iced - another first for me at Cork airport! We took off with the sun setting, providing some beautiful vivid golden colours over the snow-covered airport!
