Located at Oslo City Hall Square, in the converted 1872 train station, the Nobel Peace Center is the home of the Nobel Peace Prize. We use the power of the Nobel Peace Prize laureates’ ideas, work and causes, to engage and inspire small and large actions which make the world a more peaceful place. Through our exhibitions, guided tours, events, education programs, and digital content, we disseminate laureates’ work, build knowledge and skills, and act as a meeting place to facilitate international engagement. The Center also serves as an arena for topical events and discussions related to peace, human rights, and conflict resolution. Around 250,000 people visit us during a year, including over 700 school groups. Our digital programs reach an ever-widening circle of international users. We cooperate closely with the other organizations in the Nobel Network. OUR VISION We believe that the Nobel Peace Prize has the power to change peoples’ thoughts and actions thus make the world a more peaceful and better place for everyone. OUR UNIQUE POINT OF DEPARTURE The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize is based on an independent selection process that has produced worthy laureates for 120 years. ​It is awarded in accordance with the terms of Alfred Nobel's will “to those who, during the preceding year, have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind”.​ The Norwegian Nobel Committee has at all times anchored the prize in the contemporary world, thus demonstrating what supports peace at that point in time.​ OUR MISSION The Nobel Peace Center uses the Nobel Peace Prize and the ideas and work of the Peace Prize laureates to engage and inspire large- and small-scale changes that help to make the world a better and more peaceful place. OUR CORE GOALS The Nobel Peace Center acts as a platform to lift the laureates’ stories and cause. We raise awareness of the Peace Prize and the ideas and activities of the Peace Prize laureates​. We create engagement and build skills among visitors, students, and participants​. We offer a meeting place to facilitate international engagement.
