In Dragoon Arizona (named after the 3rd Cavalry Dragoons, that battled the Chiricahua), there is an abandoned Butterfield Stage Station and six graves. The station was used from September 1858 to March 1861 and other stage lines until 1880. There are four Confederate graves north of the station, these were three Confederate Soldiers and a Mexican boy. The two graves to the west were three Butterfield's Overland Mail Company employees who were killed by their workers (two buried in a single grave), along with the amputated arm of massacre survivor Silas St. John, which is buried between the two graves. We easily located the four Confederate graves as they are very well maintained and taken care of. We "happened" upon another grave, which was one of the Butterfield graves. According to the information, the two Butterfield graves were placed head to toe, so technically, we found all six.
