Kirkland City staff continue to try to defy the will of the residents to advance an agenda.

Kirkland City Director of Planning and Building Adam Weinstein spoke on July 17, 2024 to the King County Local Services and Land Use Committee about the Kirkland City Staff's plan to place "inclusionary housing" everywhere in Kirkland. Inclusionary housing is defined as affordable or low-income housing. If like Adam Weinstein you don't live in Kirkland such a shotgun approach to city planning may be acceptable. But for actual Kirkland residents a more practical and thoughtful approach is necessary. Such a sweeping change would certainly be a feather in the cap for the idealogues. But has the potential to be a disaster for actual residents. This agenda is entrenched in the city staff such that despite failing to get this into the Comprehensive plan in December, they are now trying to get their way nonetheless by burying it in paperwork they hope you will never read and in language they hope you will not understand.
