We hope that all the parties will take a constructive attitude, increasing mutual trust, jointly seeking ways to properly handle the relevant issues and pushing forward the fourth round of Six-party talks in order to achieve something." 8. Wide of news conference STORYLINE Chinese President Hu Jintao will try to promote an image of China as a force for peaceful development during his visit to the United States next week, trying to ease US worries about growing Chinese economic and military power, a senior official said on Tuesday. Hu is due to arrive in the United States next Monday at the start of a two-week trip that also includes stops in Canada and Mexico and at the United Nations. President Hu "will use the opportunity to deliver the message that China is a force for peace," said He Yafei, director General of the Foreign Ministry''s North America division. "This will also help improve China-U.S. relations and relations between China and the rest of the world." US officials have expressed concern about China''s growing military spending and complained about its trade policies. The visit is Hu''s first to the United States since becoming president two and a half years ago. The White House says Hu and U.S. President George W. Bush will meet September 7 in Washington. The two leaders are expected to discuss Taiwan and the six-nation talks on North Korea''s nuclear programme, according to He, who went on to describe the "Taiwan question" as the "biggest factor affecting the stable development of our relations." Taiwan and China split in 1949 during civil war. Beijing claims the self-ruled island as its territory and has threatened war if the two sides are not eventually unified. The United States severed diplomatic relations with Taipei in 1979 but is the island''s main arms supplier and could be drawn into any conflict with Beijing. He said that Hu and Bush will also discuss about the issue of nuclear issues on the Korean Peninsula which is of common concern. He confirmed that North Koreans had agreed to resume the six-party talks in the week of September 12.
