Game night with no set plans? That's our new approach! This play report covers Session 01 of our Shadowdark RPG campaign set in the pirate city of Freeport - the adventure we started during our summer in-person gathering that we're continuing tonight. In this session, our maritime-themed party - featuring a coastal ranger, a drunken fighter with a treasure map, a knowledge-seeking cleric, a runaway noble duelist, and a woodland ranger - tackles their first adventure in Freeport. What begins as a simple missing person case leads them into underground temple complexes, ambushes by serpent people, and a dramatic final battle where death nearly claims one of their own.
