Borislav Krustev VS Thibault Ghesquiere - Final - IRS 2024 Rapier tournament

This is the fight for 1st place - the Gold match - at the International Rapier Seminar 2024, this year in Belgrade, Serbia. Both fencers went through a challenging ruleset with two rounds of pools, where success was measured first by the number of clean exchange out of 3 per match. Unlike Zeljko and Bane, who know each other very well, me and Thibault met and fenced for the first time at the event - a very short match in the pool and then this final one. We judged together over 20 matches as well as fighting in 10 each. As I often have to repeat, I am not a rapier fencer, I don't train it, aside from solo drills and some sparring. I do go to workshops when I can and extract all knowledge I can from my neighbouring rapierists, but there are limits at what I can do technically when facing someone extremely good. But it was a fun match, and I fencer rapier for about half of it, so much better than before :D. Rapier used: Sigi Simple blade, 108 cm.
