Why is this park considered the first Seoul? | + Nearby Twice’s JYP Entertainment HQ
Today we’ll be going to Mongchontoseong Earthen Fortress in east Seoul. Baekje, one of the 3 rival kingdoms of Korea, was founded in 18 BC with its capital here and the city was later taken by Goguryeo and Silla consecutively. With the end of the three kingdoms era, the city was abandoned and forgotten. It was discovered again in the 20th century and now excavations are conducted. The site is by Mongchontoseong Station and is situated within the Olympic Park in Songpa, Seoul, which was built for the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics.
