The entire IVF treatment that leads to the oocyte retrieval actually begins on the second day of the woman's menses. she comes to the IVF hospital and gets her baseline ultrasound done. This ultrasound helps in finding out the presence of anteral follicles in her ovary- Anteral Follicle count AFC. This is followed by gonadotropin stimulation. these are IVF injections that help the woman produce good number of eggs for the IVF process. The growth and development of the follicles is tracked by follicular tracking ultrasound. once these follicles have reached 18mm in size, a trigger injection is given that causes the final maturation of these follicles. only mature follicles contain a fully matured oocyte called an M2 oocytes. ivf procedure is the fertility process of extracting these oocytes outside the woman's body so that they can be fertilized with the husband's sperms. this process is called in vitro fertilization. if the husband suffers from low sperm count or low sperm motility, then we can preform intra cytoplasmic sperm injection or ICSI treatment. during ICSI TREATMENT, a single sperm from the husband is injected in to individual oocytes. After fertilization, embryos or test tube babies are formed. these embryos or test tube babies are grown for a period of 3 to 5 days and then transferred into the woman's uterus. After 15 days of the embryo transfer, a beta hcg blood test is done. a positive beta hcg test indicates that the woman is pregnant is ivf painful? ivf at our centre is done under short general anesthesia. This makes the entire ivf procedure pain free and comfortable. The lady recovers completely in 10 minutes following the ivf procedure and goes home walking with in a few hours. no overnight stay in the hospital is necessary. what is the success rate of ivf? typically, ivf gives a success rate of 30 to 50 percent per cycle. the couple's ivf success rate depends on age of husband and wife, length of married life, individual diseases, individual fertility of husband and wife. husband's with low sperm count and motility may take longer to conceive. women with poor egg counts poor poor ovarian reserve may take longer to conceive. repeated ivf treatments gives very good results.
