Last Sunday brought a rare snowfall to coastal North Carolina, so I took the boat out on the Lockwood Folly River near Holden Beach and Varnamtown to capture something you almost never see. This video features a GoPro-mounted boat ride through the river and surrounding marsh, followed by drone footage showing the marsh frozen over. There’s also a bonus drone segment at the end flying over Holden Beach. The Lockwood Folly River and nearby creeks are normally prime inshore fishing waters for redfish, speckled trout, flounder, and other coastal species—so seeing this area covered in snow and ice was wild. This video gives a different look at familiar inshore fishing spots during an extremely rare winter weather event. Some of this footage has already reached over 175,000 views on TikTok, and I wanted to share the full experience here in a longer, more cinematic format. If you enjoy inshore fishing, boating, coastal North Carolina, GoPro footage, drone videos, or rare weather events, consider liking and subscribing for more weekend adventures on the water. 📍 Locations: Lockwood Folly River, Varnamtown, Holden Beach, NC 🎣 Inshore fishing waters 🎥 Filmed with GoPro & drone ❄️ Rare coastal snowstorm
