Connected Urban Twins – Shaping the Cities of the Future Together

Cities are changing faster than ever, and new tools for urban developers are needed: Urban Digital Twins, considering a variety of urban (data) resources, digitally represent our cities and enable the simulation of "what-if" scenarios for future-proof cities. In the Connected Urban Twins (CUT) project, Urban Data Platforms and Digital Twins are not only technologically and conceptually advanced. The three partner cities, Hamburg, Leipzig, and Munich, are also testing use cases in the areas of Social Transformation, Energy, and Climate. Standardized solutions make it possible for other cities and municipalities to explore new paths in urban development and citizen participation. There is no single Urban Twin for all. Like in a modular system, the components of Urban Digital Twins must be newly combined for each urban development issue. Digitalization succeeds through cooperation – when cities engage in intensive exchanges, share their knowledge, and find joint solutions.
