Protesters in Atlanta on Saturday night set fire to the Wendy’s restaurant where Rayshard Brooks was stopped by police for a suspected DUI on Friday evening. Brooks was fatally shot by police in the Wendy’s parking lot after more than a 40 minute interaction that included a struggle with the two responding police officers. Officer Garrett Rolf was fired after the incident and Officer Devin Brosnan was placed on administrative duty, according to the police department on Sunday. The Friday night killing of Brooks sparked a new wave of protests in Atlanta after turbulent demonstrations over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis had simmered down.
