TOPIC: Advancements in Light Hydrocarbon Mechanical Seal Technology and Leakage Containment and Management PRESENTER: Derek Hirtle, Regional Sales Manager, John Crane DESCRIPTION: As hydrocarbons remain the dominant fuel and raw material source for transportation and industry, pipelines continue to be the preferred method to transport these products across large land masses. Along with this continued reliance on high pressure pipelines comes an increasing demand for safety and containment. I have been very fortunate to be part of the R&D team that has helped to develop several new mechanical seal product solutions for the pipeline industry. With this in mind, I’d like to introduce to you John Crane’s Non Pusher Secondary Seal (NPSS) which now has several face variations for light hydrocarbon pipeline applications. In addition, we have expanded our complete seal product package to include various options for leakage containment. John Crane has developed and tested our customized version of the 66A (Secondary Containment Bushing) leakage containment and management plan, as well as new high pressure dry running secondary seals that also utilize the Non Pusher Secondary Seal. This presentation will briefly touch on all aspects of our new mechanical seal technology.
