केंद्र सरकार ने 1 फरवरी से लागू होने वाले नए नियम में तंबाकू उत्पादों पर अतिरिक्त टैक्स (एक्‍साइज ड्यूटी) बढ़ा दिया है। पहले से जो GST लगता था — वह अब भी लगाया जाएगा (लगभग 40%) लेकिन इसके ऊपर अब अतिरिक्त टैक्स भी लगेगा। The central government has increased the additional tax (excise duty) on tobacco products under the new rules that will come into effect from February 1. The existing GST of around 40% will continue to apply, but on top of that, an extra excise duty will now be imposed.As a result, the prices of cigarettes, pan masala, gutkha, and other tobacco products are expected to rise significantly, directly impacting consumers’ pockets.
