This is Sharp's "mydisc Introductory Program: New Discoveries of Excitement" (CUH-81), a 1985 VHD demonstration disc for the first line of Sharp's mydisc VHD video disc players. Congratulations! You're a teenage boy that just purchased a new Sharp mydisc deck. Golly, with all these incredible features such multi-speed searching, variable speed playback, & a wired remote control with a built-in Karaoke microphone, you can't help but want to share this new technology with the world...and, especially, your lady friend! Your huge variety of discs combined with all these features show that the VHD system is superior to any broadcast TV or video cassette tape system! This disc covers the various features of Sharp's first generation VP-1000 VHD player, including the optional Sharp VO-100 Random Access Unit and the unreleased Sharp AHD digital audio disc decoder. The footage is complemented by a number of segments from other VHD discs, including music clips of Hideki Saijo, Spectrum, Alice, and Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO). Enjoy this interesting demonstration footage! Fun fact: This is one of the very few pressed discs that has a Sharp logo instead of the Victor logo at the very beginning. Not even the known prototype/dealer discs omit the Victor logo sequence! ________________________________________________ This was played back using a Victor HD-9500 VHD player. NOTE: Cross-hatching artifacts may be noted along high contrast edges. This is an artifact of the TBC used to stabilize the footage and is not inherent to the original recording or post-processing after capture. NOTE 2: VHD discs have a number of quality issues, including sensitivity to scratches/long-term pressure/heat, an affinity to attract mold, etc, which can cause visual artifacts such as skipping & drop-outs along with audio artifacts. An attempt to minimize these artifacts was made during capture; however, please excuse the artifacts and short skips that still remain. Custom English subtitles by Reely Interesting are available. They can be seen by hitting the "CC" button on your device. ________________________________________________ If you want to follow me for updates or want to help me afford more random access units so I can repeat my favorite scenes from every movie I've ever seen, please click the following link: https://linktr.ee/OpWorkshop
