“This IS Kalapuya Land” is a physical and online history, culture and land acknowledgement exhibition of the Kalapuyan peoples. It’s part of the Five Oaks Museum, located in Portland, OR. The presenter will be Guest Exhibit Curator Steph Littlebird (Grand Ronde, Kalapuya), indigenous writer and fine artist from Portland. She annotated panels from the museum’s prior exhibit on Kalapuyan peoples, curated contemporary Native artwork into the exhibition and added historical content from David G. Lewis, PhD, who is a preeminent scholar on Western Oregon tribes. The presentation includes an introduction to local Kalapuyan history and culture, an overview of the “This IS Kalapuyan Land” exhibition, and a live Q&A session with Steph.
