Most creative line ever!? Megavalanche E-bike Finals 2024: Crazy adventure through rocks + snow...

The 2024 E-Mega started from the top of the quali track this year due to high winds and low temps making a Pic Blanc glacier frenzy a bit too chilly to have any fun on. The organisation were afraid that riders would suffer from hypothermia so the E-bike, women and Challenger races all funnelled their way down the qualification course to where it meets the main race track above Alpe d'Huez and carries on down through the trees to the finish in Allemond. The winds were so strong that the gondola stopped running and a lot of spectators had to walk their way back down! Alex Holowko from @wolfpack adventures was one of the spectators at the top (but he did make it down in time) and took a cool video of my alternative line through the snow and rocks which I've overlayed onto my head cam footy. I think it shows a cool perspective of how creative you can be up there! After competing in both qualification races the day before and having a fairly rubbish sleep I felt like I didn't have any power to give and I struggled to be as competitive as I wanted to be. You can see this in my heart rate levels on the screen. The monitor clearly wasn't working properly for the first part of the race but it seemed to make a bit more sense as the race went on. You will observe that my HR never went above 167bpm which is quite low for me considering how much effort I was putting in on the main climb. However, I still ended up in 9th position which I was very surprised by at the bottom of the hill! Hopefully you'll enjoy giving it all a watch. Cheers!
