Trojan NES failed playthrough

Trojan was one of those quick games that could be done in 20 minutes or less, that is once I had gotten good at it. I've beaten this one a total of 18 times in the past, a handful of those times without dying. I hadn't played it though since 2009, so it's been a while. I remembered it well enough, and that one thing that I've always hated in games, those ones that make you press up to jump (like Rush 'n Attack, never did beat that one), is always harder to pull of than pressing the A or B buttons. But, I did get good at this one back then, but wasn't expecting to do good at this now and certainly not using the keyboard. But you know, a first time back in many years, I did okay, still struggled with that jump, and also timing when to block, but I got further than I thought I would. So, I made it all the way to the boss on the last stage (not the final boss though), the guy with the ball and chain, and completely forgotten about the rocks bursting out of the wall damaging you when ball and chain dude was making his grand entrance, and yeah, I got stoned to death before the boss even got a chance to attack me. Even if I hadn't, I don't remember how to safely fight him anyway, nor Achilles if I had reached him. So if I give it another go, it might take a bit.
