Directed Energy Deposition (DED) is an emerging metal Additive Manufacturing technology, enabling advances in product sustainability, cost, performance, and lead time. Whilst emerging, this technology is by no means new. Today, most machine tools and CAD/CAM providers offer a DED solution, however, for almost a decade the high barrier to enter this space has hampered the technology’s adoption. This talk will showcase how the latest advances in DED, from software and hardware to people and process, are reducing those hurdles and paving the way for wider technology adoption down the supply chain.
