Lineman in bucket uses a ratchet 16. POV on lineman's hands as he adjusts line and sighs STORYLINE: Ethan Green, 21, an apprentice one lineman at the Yazoo Valley Electric Power Association, sat on the back of a mud-splattered pickup truck munching on pizza Thursday afternoon, taking a quick break before getting back to work. Green, who lost power at his home for two days, is working 16-hour days to help restore power in impacted areas. "Long, tired, crazy," he said. For Green, the past few days have been filled with downed trees, damaged wires and electric poles snapped under the weight of ice. On Thursday, he pulled a downed power line across a fence and hoisted it up to a fellow lineman waiting in a bucket above. He said he feels pressure to the job done quickly, knowing people are waiting on him for their power to return. "All I can say is we're working on it. But we can only go so quick," Green said. "In order to do it safely, we have to take our time." The other major challenge is access.
