Nairobi based anti-colonial afropunk rockers Crystal Axis share their latest single Take The Throne. As the title suggests, Take The Throne is a call-to-action to dismantle harmful systems designed to suppress and frustrate people all over the world while only benefitting a select few members of the ‘elite’. 2020 has illustrated that there must be a major shift in the world and Take The Throne is a reactionary song that highlights the disillusionment of people the world over. The single also addresses issues of police brutality and corruption in Kenya and the use of government forces to suppress protestors and people the world over. The artwork was created by Kenyan artists Naila Aroni and Blacky Warhol and the concept illustrates the dismantling of patriarchal structures designed to oppress the many while only benefiting a select few. Take The Throne is the first single off Crystal Axis’ upcoming 7” Lunatic Express of which is scheduled for release in November.
