Replacing my Alpinestars SMX-6 V2 boots with SMX-6 V3 model. Why? Simply because they’re worn out. The foot bed at the front, on the inside aft of the toe box, is protruding into the boot and into my foot. I would do what I normally do and just buy a new pair. But they don’t sell the old style anymore and the only leftover models are size 6. I wear a size 11. (Which is actually an EU 46). None are available. I have been riding for many years and go through boots regularly. I have tried boots from ever manufacturer that has boots with aluminum toe sliders. Even tried multiple models. Settled on these a few years ago the only things I have to replace more often are knee pucks and tires. Sometimes gloves. The new boots cost more than the old boots. Bummer, because I had no complaints with the prior boots. They’re very similar in design so I expect the comfort will be similar. However, the construction of the boots makes me think there’s some cost-cutting going on here. I will have to actually ride in these to assess how well they do or don’t work. Here I’m just making notes in the video about the differences I perceived out of the box. I need these boots for a trackday trip this weekend. One more Trackday on the current boots is three track days too many. I’ve been putting this off. Considering I’m flying across the country to go do a trackday, I chose to just pull the trigger and get this done now. I ride a fair amount and I usually go through a pair of boots every year. This time is a little different since I had re-soled my old boots to get more life out of them. Even then those boots only lasted a year. Hence, my questions about the overall quality and durability moving forward. I should have some answers by 12/15/2025..
