Need some spice in your life? Try a little SALT! We were proud to have first crack at Sage's new saltwater rods and put them to the test in So Cal's local kelp beds. A morning fishing the 690-4 and 590-4 against some grumpy Calico Bass led to some great tug o war.....we won most of them. We went a little light in terms of line weight (8wts are standard in the kelp) and were pleasantly surprised. Getting Calico bass to leave the safety of their forest is a bit like pulling teeth. These rods had the backbone to coax the most stubborn Calico and then throw a shooting head with finesse and authority.
