‫אַ שמועס צווישן מרים טרין און משה מרדכי (מאָטי) רויזען. ‫‫דער דאָזיקער אויפֿטרייסלענדיקער אינטערוויו איז דורכגעפֿירט געוואָרן מיט חדשים צוריק, נאָך אין אַפּריל 2024. הײַנט — כּמעט אַ יאָר נאָכן שוידערלעכן 7טן אָקטאָבער, ווען די מלחמה אין עזה ציט זיך ווײַטער — ברענגען מיר אים דאָ פֿאַרן ברייטן ציבור, ווײַל די אַכזריותן פֿון כאַמאַס זײַנען ווײַטער און ווידער אַקטועל און מוזן געדענקט ווערן. דער מאָרד פֿון זעקס יונגע פֿאַרכאַפּטע אין דער לעצטער וואָך האָט אונדז ביטער דערמאָנט, אַז די וועלט האָט צו טאָן מיט אַן אומברחמנותדיקער טעראָר־אָרגאַניזאַציע, גרייט צו טייטן אומשולדיקע בשעת כּלומרשטע פֿאַרהאַנדלונגען לטובֿת אַ וואָפֿן־שטילשטאַנד. ‫‫משה רויזען איז איינער פֿון די לעבן־געבליבענע. אַן אָפּשטאַמיקער פֿון אַרגענטינע פֿון אַ ייִדישיסטיש אָריענטירטער משפּחה, לעבט ער שוין לאַנגע יאָרן אין ישׂראל און האָט זיך בשעתּו באַזעצט אין קיבוץ ניר יצחק. דאָרט איז ער, צוזאַמען מיט זײַן ווײַב און אַלע אַנדערע תּושבֿים פֿונעם קיבוץ און פֿון די אַרומיקע קיבוצים, איבערגעראַשט געוואָרן פֿֿון די אַטאַקן דעם לעצטן שׂימחת־תּורה. אין זײַן עדותשאַפֿט פֿון יענעם טאָג צייכנט ער נאָך די מורא פֿון די ערשטע שעהען, די אומזיכערקייט און טויט־סכּנה, די יסורים פֿון געכאַפּט ווערן אין זײַן אייגענער שטוב, דאָס פֿאַרוווּנדיקט און פֿאַרשלעפּט ווערן מיטן ווײַב ביזן אויפֿגעריסענעם גרענעצפּלויט. פֿון אָנהייב אָן איז אים געווען וויכטיק עדות צו זאָגן. דאָס צו טאָן אויף מאַמע־לשון איז געווען אַ באַזונדערע איבערלעבונג אי פֿאַר אים אי פֿאַר אונדז. ‫זאָל ער זוכה זײַן צו אַ פֿולער רפֿואה־שלמה. זאָלן נאָך אַנדערע וואָס זײַנען געווען ווייניקער מזלדיק ווי ער זיך אומקערן לעבעדיקע פֿון עזה. זאָלן אַלע וואָס זײַנען דאָרט אומגעקומען — געדענקט ווערן. * * ‪‪A pre-recorded conversation (in Yiddish) between Miriam Trinh and Moshe Mordechai (Moty) Rozen. ‪This heartbreaking interview (in Yiddish) was conducted several months ago, in April 2024. Today—almost a year after the horrific events of October 7th, as the war in Gaza continues—we are making it available to the public because the atrocities committed by Hamas remain critically relevant and must not be forgotten. The recent murder of six young captives serves as a stark reminder that the world is confronting a ruthless terrorist organization, willing to kill the innocent even during supposed ceasefire negotiations. ‪Moshe (Moty) Rozen is one of the survivors. Originally from Argentina, from a Yiddishist-oriented family, he has lived in Israel for many years and settled in Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak. There, he and his wife, along with all the other residents of the kibbutz and the surrounding kibbutzim, were caught off guard by the attacks one year ago during Simkhes-Toyre. In his testimony from that day, he describes the terror of the early hours, the uncertainty and life-threatening danger, the suffering of being taken captive in his own home, and the harrowing and protracted journey with his wife to the breached border. From the beginning, it was important for him to testify. Doing so in his mother tongue was a unique experience for him, and us as well. ‪May he merit a complete and speedy recovery. May others who were less fortunate than he return alive from Gaza.
