The 24 Hours of Daytona are happening this week as one of the first big motorsport events of 2025 and as usual they take place on the Road Course layout of the Daytona International Speedway in Florida. Here you can see a full lap on the track in 12 different racing games, using 12 different cars that have won the 24 hour race in the past. Enjoy the show! Thanks to Aeroteq for recording iRacing for me, so that I didn't have to buy track and car there myself just for this video. Check out some of his own content here: / aeroteq / @aeroteq The Daytona International Speedway actually has two very big races each year with the Daytona 500 Nascar race on the oval layout and the Daytona 24 Hours on the sports car road course layout, which adds an infield with 4 major corners and also a chicane on the back straight. The first 24 hour race at Daytona was in 1966 and since then it has happened in most years. For this video I was actually able to use 12 different cars that all won the race at some point (although in a few cases with slightly different liveries). Just like at Le Mans a lot of races were won by Porsche with cars like the 917, 935 and 962 (shown here in GT7). Jaguar was also able to win with the XJR-9, using the Castrol livery that you can find for it in some games (while the purple Silk Cut livery was used for the win at Le Mans). Nissan was able to win in 1992 with the R91CP, setting a record of 762 laps that would last until 2018. In 1993 the win went to the Toyota that I am showing in FM8, although the winning car was actually the number 98 and not the 99 that is found in Forza. In 1994 the race was won by a Japanese car for the third year in a row with a Nissan 300ZX that can also be found in some games. In 1998 the win went to the Ferrari 333 SP (shown in PC2), which also won the open prototype class at Le Mans that year (which is often forgotten, as it was beaten by a lot of GT1 cars). The 2000 race was won by the iconic number 91 Dodge Viper GTS-R from Team Oreca. The 2001 race went to the Corvette C5-R (using a different livery than the Le Mans livery found in Gran Turismo though). From 2005 to 2015 most races were won by Riley prototypes with engines from various manufacturers, including the one shown in FM6. The only exception was 2014, when the win went to the Corvette Daytona Prototype that I am showing in RaceRoom. 4 wins in a row went to the Cadillac DPi-V.R that I am showing in RF2, which also holds the current distance record of 833 laps. This was followed by 3 wins for Acura (shown in iRacing) and finally in 2024 a win for the Porsche 963 (shown in AM2). Let's see who the next winner will be this week! What are your thoughts on the Daytona Road Course layout? Which rendition of the track do you like the most? And what are your favorite cars from the 24 Hours of Daytona? Feel free to share your thoughts and anecdotes about the track and the race in the comments.
