Cilindro de Marboré 3.328m - Alpinism in Aragón Spain Ordesa y Monte Perdido

Mountaineering tour to Cilindro de Marboré, or Pico Cilindro, at 3.328 metres on 4th and 5th of July 2020. A nice tour that runs straight through the beautiful valley of Ordesa and Monte Perdido. We started from La Pradera, where we parked and from there crossed the whole valley until we reached, the breathtaking waterfalls of Cola de Caballo. There we started climbing through Clavijas de Oaso, reaching the green meadows of Refugio Góriz by sunset. We set up our bivouac and slept under the stars (more like under the moon, actually difficult to sleep under such bright light!). The next morning we started early towards Lago Helado, where it was no longer possible to stay in shorts, so as we put on our crampons I switched to proper pants. Through a long snowfield you reach the col that connects Pico Pitón SW de Cilindro with Cilindro. I quickly scrambled up the sidepeak (which counts as a 3000er itself) and the faced the "crux" of the ascension. It wasn't difficult to climb over the 12 metres of III+ rock. From there on, it was just a matter of following the meandering ridge towards the summit.
