Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday announces Rs. 15 Crore Grant for three new Bathou Thansalis at Goreswar, Chirang, and Ghoramara (Tezpur) — with Rs. 5 crore allocated to each. The Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday attended the open session of the 32nd Annual Conference of the All Bathou Mahasabha, held in Tamulpur. In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the spiritual and historical significance of the Bathou religion, calling it one of the oldest religions in the world. Dr. Sarma along with BTR CEM Pramod Boro also participated in traditional Bathou rituals, expressing respect for the age-old indigenous practices. CM Sarma declared a financial grant of Rs. 15 crore for the construction of three new Bathow Thansalis (temples) at Goreswar, Chirang, and Ghoramara (Tezpur) — with Rs. 5 crore allocated to each. Further supporting the Bodo traditional Bathou religion, he also announced a grant of Rs. 5 lakh each for 100 existing Bathou Thansalis across Assam to aid in the preservation and development of Bathou religious institutions. The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Bodoland Territorial Region Executive Member Pramod Boro and key office bearers of the Bathou Mahasabha.
