The Impress Puck™ System is made up of three unique elements that can help you create barista quality coffee every time. With intelligent dosing, assisted tamping, and precision measurement you can always guarantee a perfectly polished and even espresso puck surface. Follow this 8-step guide and discover how to use the Impress Puck™ System and its 25 grind size settings. 1. Place the portafilter securely into the grinding cradle and the ‘Dose’ light will illuminate. 2. Adjust the grind size by turning the dial on the side of the machine, depending on the coffee beans you’d like to use. We recommend you start with a grind size of 16 and adjust accordingly. 3. Press the dose button to start the grinding process and allow this to continue until the ‘Tamp’ light indicator begins to flash. 4. Push the tamp lever downwards until you hear a beep. Pushing the lever slowly will create a more even coffee puck and improving its appearance. The push on the lever tamps the grind in the portafilter with a consistent 22 pounds of pressure. 5. Once the tamp pressure is released it finishes it off with a barista twist, rotating the tamp at 7° to clean off excess grinds and polish the puck surface. Repeat the tamp action for an extra polish puck surface. 6. The dose level indicator provides feedback on your tamp when you release the lever back to the home position. If the ideal middle bar smiley face appears, you have reached the ideal tamp level with the right amount of coffee grinds in your portafilter. 7. If the dose level is below the ideal amount, the machine will switch to the ‘Bit more’ mode and the ‘Dose’ button light will flash. Press this button to add a bit more grinds to the portafilter then push the lever again for another dose level reading. When the ideal dose is reached, the machine will calculate and adjust the auto-dose time and save it for the next grind cycle. 8. On the other hand, if the dose level is above the ideal level middle bar, remove the portafilter from the cradle and use the razor trimming tool to remove excess grind. The machine will then calculate how much grind to reduce and update accordingly for the next grind cycle. Not sure what beans to use?
