Building the Impossible: A 25-Foot Retaining Wall on Weak Soils!

We’re in Fuquay, North Carolina, where we used Geopiers to support a massive 25-foot retaining wall built on weak, swampy soils. This wall supports the main access road and raises the entire site grade—making the whole project possible. Instead of relying on costly deep foundations or extensive soil replacement, we installed a grid of Geopiers to create strong, uniform support beneath the wall. The result is a stable, cost-effective foundation system that performs like it’s built on great soil conditions. Our team worked closely with geotechnical engineers, wall designers, and contractors to design and install this system—supporting a 750-foot-long wall roughly the size of four basketball courts. It’s a great example of how innovative ground improvement solutions can make challenging projects a success.
