IOP | PCF Doomadgee, QLD - Where We Wanna Be

"Where We Wanna Be" was proudly filmed on Gangalidda Country. Doomadgee. Doomadgee is located in the Gulf of Carpentaria, approximately 140km from the Northern Territory border and 93km west of Burketown. The community is positioned alongside the Nicholson River and provides access to the coast, freshwater rivers and Lawn Hill National Park, one of the Gulf’s most popular natural tourist attractions. Doomadgee is situated on Gangalidda Country and has a rich history and culture, comprising of people from many nations including Gangalidda, Waanyi, Garrawa and more... This is a story created by students of Doomadgee State School. NO SHAME | BE PROUD | RESPECT It was a privilege and an honour to work closely with the Preston Campbell Foundation and the community of Doomadgee. The restrictions of current times created a unique opportunity for Indigenous Outreach Projects to send one IOP Artist to work along side the PCF Team to Queensland. They managed to get the community to vocally record and film their very own community clip, with the guidance of prior Zoom workshops which included song writing. The vocals and the filming were recorded in the community and then sent back to the IOP Production Team to edit remotely. We would like to offer a big thank you to Doomadgee School and PCF for having us be apart of this project. None of this would have been possible without the support of the Elders, the Community and especially the Youth participating in the project.
