It sets up both Vanny and her connection to Vanessa; by showing her reluctance and frustration, it sets up a good ending where you save Vanessa; it sets up Gregory as skilled, resourceful, and parentless; and it shows a crowded Pizzaplex during the day, which will make it seem more empty when the player actually starts playing. And, since the normal intro plays, too, you get all the normal introductions as you see Glamrock Freddy, Roxanne Wolf, Glamrock Chica, and Montgomery Gator preform.
