Plastisol vs Water Based Screen Printing Ink - Part II

Here is a quick video explaining the technical differences and process for plastisol vs water based screen printing ink. This covers some of the pros and cons for mixing, printability and coverage. Water based screen printing ink is a great choice for printing on lighter colored garments because it actually meshes with the fabric as opposed to sitting on top. The issue with water-based inks vs. plastisol is that they don’t have the opacity (brightness) that can be achieved with plastisol ink. This is why Plastisol is generally the best choice for vibrant prints on dark colored apparel. If you are printing very specific Pantone colors than Plastisol is a better solution. It’s far easier to mix to the right color and it’s strong opacity makes it a more precise match. If you are concerned with making the most eco-friendly and environmentally conscious choice, than waterbased screen printing is the clear winner. Whichever silk screen inks you choose have positives and negatives. Speaking with a screen printer to get real insights can help you pick the right one for your job. https://superiorinkprinting.com/scree...
