These things tend to lose comms between the sensor unit and the display unit when the Sensor battery runs down. This video shows how to reconnect them after replacing the battery. If you can't be bothered to watch the video, here's the process: 1. Disconnect the power supply from the display unit, so it's running on its internal battery. 2. Press and hold the top button until the unit goes completely off. 3. Reconnect the power supply - the unit turns on by itself. 4. Immediately press and hold the bottom button, and while keeping the bottom button pressed, press and release the top button four times, then release the bottom button. The unit should then enter "Find" mode, and should start working after a few seconds. If you're too slow doing step 4, or if you do anything else other than this precise procedure after reconnecting the power, it won't work and you'll have to start again. Follow the steps exactly and you shouldn't have any trouble. This procedure does not seem to be documented anywhere, even in the documentation originally supplied with the unit. I originally discovered it several years ago by emailing British Gas Customer Services, and after a lengthy exchange trying to get them to grasp the problem, they finally came up with this non-intuituve procedure. Hope this video is useful. It pains me to think how many of these units have been thrown away as "broken" simply because the owner didn't know about this procedure.
