This is the fourth concert in a series of 6 e-Baithak concerts over the next 6 months featuring the unique Duet of Sitar and Indian Cello by Pandit Shubhendra Rao and Vidushi Saskia Rao with Pt. Ramkumar Mishra on Tabla. 'Unlock the Music' series is an initiative of Pandit Shubhendra Rao and Saskia Rao-de Haas. They welcome you to their house for 6 concerts that were held between October 2020 and March 2021, open to a small live audience. In this way, the artist performed not just to a camera but to an audience in an intimate setting in this time of COVID and Lockdowns. Each concert was streamed to a worldwide audience that could experience the concerts and interactive. A post-concert Q & A with the artists was an added feature that enabled audiences from all around the world to interact with these legendary artists. Indian Classical music prides itself on an age-old tradition in lineage that dates back to over 2500 years. The importance of audience is perhaps best expressed in a treatise by Abhinav Gupta in the 10th century. He describes the perfect audience as a ‘spotless mirror’ that can capture the essence of the music. This understanding of music takes place at different levels. Music flows from one soul to the other and helps us in these trying times. With each concert, we have created an e-book as a guide to each concert of the “Unlock the Music’ series to explain more about the music and artist.
