上海灘 (The Bund Opening Theme) Yamaha Electone cover. First Yamaha Electone organ performance and upload for 2019, and I have a long-ago story to go with this retro Cantopop classic! I used to hate playing 上海灘 when I was young. My mother would request for this TVB theme song every so often, and I’d always find all sorts of excuses not to do it because I was in that “phase.” I felt playing Cantopop or any music of Asia (non-Japanese) on the Yamaha Electone was uncool. I was all about jazz and American pop and classics and so on. Well, how I changed with age! I love the song nowadays. (Type “rubato meaning” into Google and you’ll see two definitions) Rather than use the less common (for Electone) terms of Ad Libitum or A Piacere, I decided to retain my original notation.
